The First Burn Ritual

The first time you light your Angel candle is the most important. Follow these four steps to set your candle up for a lifetime of perfect burns.

01
✂️
Trim the Wick

Before lighting for the very first time, trim your wick to exactly ¼ inch (6mm). This prevents mushrooming, excess soot, and an oversized flame.

Use a wick trimmer or nail scissors
02
🕯️
Light & Wait

Light your candle and let it burn until the entire top layer of wax melts to the edges of the vessel. This is called a full melt pool.

Usually 2–4 hours for most sizes
03
🌊
Full Melt Pool

A full melt pool prevents "tunneling" — where the candle burns straight down the middle, wasting wax on the sides. This first burn sets the candle's memory.

Never extinguish early on first burn
04
❄️
Cool Completely

After extinguishing, allow the candle to cool completely and the wax to solidify before moving, relighting, or placing a lid on the vessel.

Trimming is Everything

A properly trimmed wick is the single most important thing you can do to extend your candle's life, improve scent throw, and keep your burn clean and safe.

✂️
Trim to ¼ inch before every single burn Use a wick trimmer, nail clippers, or small scissors. Remove the trimmed wick debris from the wax before lighting.
🍄
Watch for mushrooming A mushroom-shaped carbon buildup on the wick tip means it needs trimming. Extinguish, let it cool, trim, then relight.
🔥
Flame should be calm & steady A healthy flame is about ½ inch tall and flickers gently. A very large or flickering flame means the wick is too long or there's a draft.
🖤
Black smoke = trim immediately If you notice black smoke or soot on the glass, extinguish the candle, allow it to cool, trim the wick, and wipe the inside of the vessel with a damp cloth.

Do's & Don'ts

A beautiful candle experience is a safe one. Keep these rules close every time you light up.

Always Do
  • Trim the wick to ¼ inch before every single lighting.
  • Burn on a heat-resistant, stable, flat surface away from edges.
  • Allow the wax to reach a full melt pool on the first burn.
  • Keep the candle away from drafts, vents, and air currents.
  • Extinguish with a candle snuffer to prevent wax splatter.
  • Keep burning candles in your sight at all times.
  • Store candles in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
  • Stop burning when ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom.
  • Keep away from flammable materials and surfaces.
  • Allow the candle to fully cool before touching, moving, or covering.
Never Do
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended or while sleeping.
  • Never burn for more than 4 consecutive hours at a time.
  • Never use water to extinguish a candle — it can cause hot wax to splatter.
  • Never burn near children, pets, curtains, or flammable objects.
  • Never move or carry a candle while it's lit or the wax is liquid.
  • Never place on glass, TV screens, books, or heat-sensitive surfaces.
  • Never drop foreign objects (matches, wick trimmings) into the wax pool.
  • Never burn in a completely sealed, unventilated room.
  • Never use if the vessel is cracked, chipped, or damaged.
  • Never re-use the vessel for food or drink after the candle is spent.

Diffuser Care Guide

Your Angel reed diffuser will fill your space with beautiful fragrance for months — with just a little know-how.

01 📍
Placement Matters

Place your diffuser in a high-traffic area where air movement is moderate — hallways, entryways, or near a doorway. Avoid direct sunlight and heat sources, which degrade the fragrance oil faster.

02 🌾
Reed Flipping

Flip your reeds every 1–2 weeks for a fresh burst of fragrance. For a subtle, consistent scent, flip less frequently. For a stronger throw, flip more often — but note this uses the oil faster.

03 🧤
Handle with Care

Always hold the reeds from the dry top end when flipping. Fragrance oil can stain surfaces and fabrics. Place a protective coaster or tray beneath the vessel to protect furniture.

04 🔄
Replace Reeds

Over time, reeds become saturated with dust and lose their ability to wick fragrance. Replace your reeds when you refill the oil or when scent throw diminishes noticeably.

05 🚫
Keep Away From Children

Diffuser oils are not safe if ingested. Always keep out of reach of children and pets. If skin contact occurs, rinse with water. If ingested, seek immediate medical attention.

06
Expected Longevity

A 3.4 oz (100ml) diffuser lasts approximately 2–3 months. A 6.8 oz (200ml) lasts 4–6 months. Warmer environments and more reeds increase oil consumption and scent intensity.

How to Use Your Room Spray

Our alcohol-free, water-based room sprays are formulated to instantly refresh any space with natural fragrance. Here's how to get the best results.

01

Shake Well Before Use

Our natural formulas may settle between uses. Give the bottle a gentle shake before each spray to ensure an even, consistent fragrance release.

02

Spray Upward into the Air

Hold 12–18 inches from the surface and spray upward into the center of the room. Let the mist fall naturally. Avoid spraying directly onto fabrics, wood, or painted surfaces.

03

2–3 Sprays Per Room

Start with 2–3 sprays and allow the fragrance to settle before adding more. Our potent botanical formulas are designed to fill a room with just a few spritzes.

04

Do Not Spray on Skin or Near Eyes

Room sprays are formulated for air and soft surfaces only — not for use on skin, hair, or eyes. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Store upright in a cool, dry place.

Storing Your Products

Proper storage keeps your Angel products fresh, fragrant, and beautiful until their very last use.

🌡️
Temperature

Store all products below 77°F (25°C). Extreme heat softens wax and degrades fragrance oils, while freezing can cause cracking.

Cool & Consistent
☀️
Away From Light

Keep candles and diffusers out of direct sunlight. UV exposure causes wax discoloration, fragrance fade, and faster oil evaporation.

No Direct Sunlight
💧
Dry Environment

Humidity can affect wax texture and cause frosting on natural soy candles — this is cosmetic only and does not affect performance.

Low Humidity
🧢
Use the Lid

Always cover your candle when not in use to keep dust off the wax and preserve the fragrance. A covered candle retains scent up to 30% longer.

Frequently Asked

The most common candle care questions — answered.

Tunneling happens when a candle burns straight down the middle without melting to the edges — usually because the first burn was cut too short. Natural soy wax has a "memory," meaning it will continue burning in the same pattern. To fix mild tunneling, try the "foil wrap method": wrap aluminum foil around the top of the candle leaving a small hole for the flame, and burn for 2–3 hours until the wax melts level. Prevention is always better — always allow a full melt pool on the first burn.
White spots or a powdery coating on natural soy wax are completely normal — this is called "frosting" and is a sign that your candle is made with 100% natural soy wax. It is caused by natural polymorphism (a feature of vegetable waxes) and does not affect the scent, burn quality, or safety of your candle in any way. It is actually a hallmark of quality natural wax.
Black soot is almost always caused by an untrimmed wick. Extinguish the candle, allow it to cool completely, then trim the wick to ¼ inch. Wipe the interior of the glass vessel with a slightly damp cloth to remove any soot deposits. If soot persists after trimming, it may also be caused by a draft — try moving the candle away from air vents, fans, or open windows.
Absolutely! Our vessels are designed to be reused and repurposed. Once the candle has burned down, place the jar in the freezer for 1–2 hours — the remaining wax will contract and pop right out. Clean the inside with warm soapy water or rubbing alcohol to remove any residue. The vessel is perfect for holding small plants, jewelry, makeup brushes, pens, or as a drinking glass.
Scent throw is influenced by room size, airflow, and temperature. For the strongest scent: burn your candle in a smaller, enclosed space; ensure no strong cross-drafts; allow a full melt pool to form; and burn for at least 30 minutes before entering the room. If your candle seems weaker than expected, try trimming the wick shorter (to just over ¼ inch) and check that it's stored away from light and heat.
If your wick has shifted off-center, gently nudge it back to the middle while the wax is still liquid (using a chopstick or similar tool). Always allow the candle to cool completely before moving. An off-center wick can cause uneven burning — catching it early prevents this.
The best way to extinguish a candle is with a candle snuffer — this prevents hot wax from splattering and avoids sending the wick ember drifting into the wax pool. If you don't have a snuffer, you can carefully blow the candle out from a low angle. Never use water. After extinguishing, check that the wick is centered and upright before the wax re-solidifies.
